Ylands – Are dedicated servers worth it?

Ylands dedicated servers are still in Alpha and therefore building a server can be tough. Crashes and bugs may plague your experience but don’t let it be ruined. There are good ways to run dedicated servers, either by hosting locally or by hosting with a hosting company. Whatever your choice is, good management of your server is absolutely essential.

For me playing ylands as a multiplayer game is the way to go.

Very much appreciate the update man! I have been putting the admin of my patreon community through hell trying to keep our server running, but its good to know that they have a life span. Would love to know more about how I might be able to save the village I was building and bring it to a new server. I’m a geek for building, I went pretty crazy.

We have our servers sponsored by G-Portal and kept it running for quite a long time, but decided to start over just this week.

Darn, I was really looking forward to playing this game with my family for total of 3 players on a local server. I’m glad I have not purchased the game yet since discovering the difficulty and challenge of hosting a personal server. Will the server tech ever approach a point where it is not so cumbersome on computer resources? I have a dedicated server machine for multiple games and it only has 8 Gigs of RAM and works perfectly even with 3 diff games running on it. I am not going to upgrade my server machine to only accommodate one game that needs more RAM. I am soooo sorry to say that I won’t be getting this game.. 🙁
