Might want to update this. It does now have inter-application support – much like DropBox on iOS devices. The software has been improved vastly since this review. Would be interested in your review of the current version. They also have Android software now.
There still a big difference, all the information you store here is located on a single drive, while in Dropbox (which now costs 10 USD/month per 1 TB) has all the backup systems and versioning. So this is something to be considered, otherwise is better to have a Synology NAS with more drives and to have at least a RAID level of protection. But in general for home users this could be very useful, but, I would suggest they keep it backed up to somewhere else not to have only one copy of the data. Ideally it would be good to be able to configure some folders so they can be backed up to Google Drive or even Dropbox itself as an offsite backup. The idea is great, but it needs to improve, if it didn’t yet.
Why can’t you see that this is NOT like the web based products. So, no Pogo nor the other compare to this. I thought this guy is a techno knowledgeable reviewer?! Why force to categorize it? I will be recommending this to ALL clients!

How noisy is it?
NSA does not like this product.
Leo, it would be interesting if you could compare Transporter to the WD My Cloud. The WD My Cloud is cheaper so I wonder what the big difference is.
